CN: Volleyball Bundesliga and sporttotal.tv announce partnership

Cologne/Berlin, June 7, 2018.

The Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) and sporttotal.tv gmbh, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPORTTOTAL AG, have signed a cooperation agreement for the medialization of the top German volleyball leagues of women and men. The plan is to support the volleyball sport of the highest leagues as from the 2018/2019 season and to fully cover games of the 1st national leagues and show them for the first time on sporttotal.tv. With this in mind, sporttotal.tv is to equip the competition venues of the 23 Bundesliga clubs with its fully automated camera technology and exclusively broadcast all the games of the 1st national leagues of women and men – to the exception of only up to 80 TV live games that continue to be broadcast by SPORT1 via traditional linear TV. In addition, sporttotal.tv will also produce and broadcast games from selected competition venues of the men and women’s 2nd national leagues for the first time using its innovative camera technology.

Considerably more presence for the most popular team sport after football

Peter Lauterbach, CEO of SPORTTOTAL AG:

„We our very proud to have convinced the professionals behind the Volleyball Bundesliga of our forward-looking concept of automated sport broadcasting. The partnership with one of Germany’s top leagues is a milestone in the young history of sporttotal.tv. Together with the leagues and the clubs, we will continue to develop the medialization of this fascinating sport and elevate it to a new digital level. Our team is highly motivated and can hardly wait to get going.“

Klaus-Peter Jung, General Manager of the Volleyball Bundesliga:

„In future, volleyball will be presenting a more innovative face. Automated production and streaming are the future. And as a league Association we want to actively shape this development of the world’s most popular team sport after football.“
